2020 General Membership Meeting

President’s Report

• Spring Season
  • Teams: 30
    • Baseball Junior: 1
    • Baseball Intermediate: 1
    • Baseball Major: 6
    • Baseball Minor: 11
    • Baseball Tee Ball: 7
    • Softball Junior: 1
    • Softball Major: 1
    • Softball Minor: 2
  • 104 cancellations due to COVID- This changed the status of several teams, but we were able to make it work. 
  • The season was suspended in March after tryouts but was able to start back up in June and ended in August
  • Tournament team opportunities were limited, but JCLL made the best of a stressful situation. 
    • 10-12 Baseball team won District 6 championship
    • 11U team won the River City Classic
    • Had enough players to 9U BOB teams but MLL did not hold the tournament
• Fall Season
  • Board decided not to hold traditional fall season and instead offered a Sandlot baseball program for 2 age groups (major/minor). Thank you to Peter Jackson, Donnie Engle and Josh Didion for taking responsibility for that program.
  • Softball has 2 fall ball teams participating with surrounding leagues
• Maintenance: During the Pandemic, the Board, along with other volunteers, were able to make some much-needed repairs to the facility. 
  • Minor field bleacher boards replaced
  • Major field backstop upgrades
  • Major field closed for fall to repair grass
  • Softball dugout upgrades
    • Thank you to the Abe family
  • Junior field upgrades
    • Closed for fall 
    • New infield dirt
    • Infield sod
    • Thank you Larnie Vickers
  • Thank you to JR Heffner for helping to aerate the Majors field, and to Lyle Tabb for his donation of Mushroom soil  for the Juniors and Majors Fields. 
• Storm Damage
  • A microburst in July damaged several items
    • Junior field dugout roof
    • Junior field backstop 
    • Two batting cage frames destroyed
    • Major field padding damaged
    • Concession stand gutter damaged
  • Insurance claim filed with Jones Insurance, but the league did not receive any money to help with repairs
  • Cages will need to be repaired before the Spring Season. One cage is not enough for our facility. 
• Additional field project status
  • Fill dirt permit expired
  • Can’t find engineer to help renew without large price tag
  • JCS offered to allow their architect help for around $3,000
  • DEP contact offered suggestion to have construction job add the area to their permit as a dump site.  
• 2019 taxes completed by Rick LaFollette on 8/14/2020.  He filed for an extension and was able to complete the taxes before the extension deadline.  JCLL is compliant until 2/15/2021.

  Treasurer’s Report:

• Greg Sager reviewed the financials of the league. 

  Constitutional Changes:

• Donnie Engle discussed added a 15^th member to the Board. Proposing that The Safety Officer become an official Board position. 
  • Keem Holmes proposed the idea of having a Safety Committee for the league. Wanting to hold the parents more accountable to volunteering in the league. 
• NO Constitutional were made at the General Membership meeting. 

  Nomination of the Election Chairperson:

• Donnie Engle motioned to name Mary Martin the Election Chairperson. Brenda Engle second the motion. Motion passed.
