First JCLL Cash Bash Event

On September 8th 2018, Jefferson County Little League held a Cash Bash at Shepherdstown Fire Hall to help raise money for a John Deere lawn mower that had to be purchased to maintain the facility grounds.

The existing mower of many years had finally reached a point where it could not be reliable through the year and during a year with tons of rain, the grass had to be mowed often and needed a dependable machine to accomplish the job.  For months leading up to the 2018 season, the JCLL board discussed purchasing a new mower and after several meetings the board finally approved the purchase of a new mower with a loan through Jefferson Security Bank.  While the league had funds to pay for the mower, the league did not want to leave itself in a bad situation should critical improvements be needed later in the year.

To help hold the Cash Bash event, JCLL partnered with the Shepherdstown Fire Hall to join resources in the volunteer world.  Shepherdstown Fire Hall helped JCLL with the Cash Bash event venue and details during the event while JCLL provided manpower volunteer support during the Shepherdstown Fire Hall Sportsman Bash.  Volunteers such as Larry Guerra, Megan Guerra, Mike Moulton, and Greg Sager helped sponsor JCLL at the Sportsman Bash by volunteering in the kitchen and selling tip jars for several hours during the sportsman bash event.

During the Cash Bash event, JCLL had a number of supporters attend the event to help raise money to pay for a portion of the loan.  Many local business owners donated items for a silent auction and raffle drawings which helped in the fund raising effort.

JCLL was able to earn over $4000 dollars during the event making the event the most successful fundraising event for JCLL in recent times.  All the money was paid towards the mower loan and allowed the league to cut the loan in half.  We hope to hold a similar event in 2019 to help raise money for the next big item in the plans.

The league would like to thank all the volunteers and sponsors that helped make the event happen!
